Olympic inspiration
A flower bed in the Olympic Park
A couple of weeks ago we were lucky enough to be at the Olympic Stadium - on Super Saturday. Not in the evening, to see three Gold medals being won for Britain, but to see Jess Ennis, Usain Bolt, Oscar Pistorius and many dozens of other lesser-known athletes running, jumping or throwing their little hearts out to prove that they are the best in the world. Noisy? More than you can imagine. Exciting? Very much so. Inspiring? You bet it was. These athletes have trained for years and failed to reach their targets on many occasions, but that day, their time had come. They were all in the Olympic Stadium, being watched by millions, showing off their skills.
I could draw parallels with writing. Most authors (certainly I include myself here), practice for years before they are read by their audience – let's hope it's millions when it happens! But with every word they improve their skills.
Okay, it was just a fun day out – but I found it inspiring too!
